A Love Note

From the Current Owner of Cascade View Equestrian Estate

To give a little history on this estate, we bought this 8.6 acres in 1992 and have been the sole owners and developers over the last 34 years.  What an adventure and a reward it has been for us.  Here are some of our adventures in this labor of love regarding this property.

We were originally from Montana, loved mountains, and wanted to eventually have horses. So, we looked at this 8.6 acres of fully timbered land and said, “we can sell those trees, pay the costs for developing the land, and have 5 mature pastures ready for horses such that they would never be standing in mud”.  The land was cleared for pastures by 1993, and the pastures were seeded by 1994 and didn’t have a horse on them until 2005 when the 4-stall barn was built. Of course, it took a few more years to complete the development of the round pen, outdoor arena, and what felt like “miles of white vinyl fencing”.  But we have had 20 years of fabulous trail riding on the adjacent ~140 acres of DNR land with access to Weyerhaeuser land with beautiful mountain views. That is why you won’t see a horse trailer on the property…. we didn’t need one!

The house was built in 1995. We designed the home, with the assistance of 2 architects. I loved balconies, large wood beams, spiral staircases, French doors that opened onto patios, and choices of areas for entertaining, which explains a lot when you visit the house.  A primary goal that influenced the development of this estate was to never want to buy a summer home or vacation property. Our mission was to put all our efforts, money, and time into making our primary residence into our own resort-like home (one that you would never want to leave for another vacation home).  In other words, we made our home into our resort paradise.  This explains all the detailed landscaping, outdoor lighting accents, waterfall features, fountain, large pool with a gazebo kitchen, and multiple choices for where to relax while sitting at an outdoor fireplace.

As the years have passed, we have fine-tuned the entertaining aspect of our estate home including the glass-walled door entry to the wine room, remodeling all bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and living areas in 2019-2023 to update the splendor of the home. Our mission was never to create a “museum-like home” but rather a “warm, inviting home that everyone would feel comfortable in and immediately relaxed”. We have had a lot of spectacular times and parties here that have proved our success in achieving this!

Now at 69 years old, it is time to have the next family enjoy, appreciate, and love life at this beautiful and amazing estate. It will be hard to surpass the immense pleasure and beautiful life that we have all had here for over three decades.
